Valeria Pelka

During the 2023-24 season, CYS was both honored and delighted to be part of the new project California Festival: A Celebration of New Music. They presented the world premiere in the USA and Europe by noted Argentinian composer Valeria Pelka. Memorias Argentinas is a three-movement work inspired by the African roots of much Argentinian folk music, particularly the chacarera, zamba, and malambo. This highly evocative and energetic nature of this orchestral showpiece showcases all sections of the orchestra.
