Associate Orchestra Concerto Competition Winner

Evelyn Wang, 15, has been part of CYS for 4 years and is a winner of the CYS Associate Orchestra Concerto Competition. She started playing flute at the age of 8 and is currently studying with Grace Lai. She has been selected to participate in California All-State Honor Bands for three years, including high school Wind Symphony. She won first place at the United States International Music Competition Young Artist Award as well as the USIMC Chinese Music Award. She also won first place in the Romantic Advanced Flute Category for the San Francisco International Innovative Music Competition. Last summer, she debuted Ke-Chia Chen’s piece, Kite Flying, commissioned by USIMC. She also took 4 years of percussion with UMusic. Evelyn is in 10th grade and attends Prospect High School. Besides playing flute, she enjoys theatre, both onstage and backstage, reading, baking, and spending time with friends and family.
