Christina Cheng
Graduating Senior Concerto Competition Winner
Christina Cheng began playing percussion at age 10 and has studied with Kumiko Ito for the past 8 years. This is her fourth year as a member of the California Youth Symphony and third year in the Senior Orchestra. Previously, she has served as the principal percussionist for Golden State Youth Orchestra’s Senior Symphony. She has also been selected to play in the California All-State ensembles for the past four years. At Lynbrook High School, Christina is the section leader for the Wind Ensemble percussion section and has also been a part of the school’s marching band and winter percussion front ensemble. She is the winner of the 2022 Lynbrook Concerto Competition and performed as a soloist with Lynbrook’s Chamber Orchestra. In the fall, Christina plans to attend UC Irvine to study Pharmaceutical Sciences.
