Theresa Abalos

Associate Orchestra Concerto Competition Winner

Theresa Abalos was a winner of the CYS Associate Orchestra Soloist Competition last December. She began learning flute at the age of ten and currently studies with Natalie Haworth-Liu. Since then, she has performed frequently for retirement homes and benefit concerts. She was the recipient of a full scholarship from the Areon Summer Flute Institute in 2012 -- the same year she joined CYS as a member of the Associate Orchestra. Currently, she is the second principal flute of the Senior Orchestra. Theresa is a sophomore at Evergreen Valley High School where she plays in the wind ensemble and marching band. She has also played in the Santa Clara County Honor Band. After school, she tutors beginner and intermediate flutists. Theresa loves to write and is secretary of the school’s creative writing club.
